The Scenes: Downtown at lunchtime for a dickster visit, then work, then the west side for a philser and stevie show. First, the view from the Garfield Garage. I ended up on a stoop, shown below in bright sunlight, on the second building in from the right.
I got downtown about an hour before the dickster. All the on-street parking was taken, so I ended up parked on the roof of the Garfield Garage. Great view of the doings for the cheney confab with Cincinnati regional chamber members at the Phoenix, 812 Race Street, Cincinnati. The local police prohibited auto and pedestrian traffic near the the restaurant. The police were remarkably good natured, though emphatic, in carrying out their instructions from the secret service people traveling with his lowness.
This fellow lives across the street from the Phoenix. He was told to leave, too.
A fellow protestor took my picture.
From my stoop, I could see chamber members as they filed in the side entrance for security checks.
There were several mounted police. Those three on foot were also protesting.
I found that this great stoop had an excellent view and was within easy hearing distance from the entrance tent. When the v.p. showed up, I bellowed out "the war in iraq is based on lies" and "v.p. for torture" and America should not torture people" and "stop the war." I heard others further down the street yelling, too. Where I was there were two other protesters. I think most of the protesters were further down Race at Garfield in the park.
This is a picture of the cheney vehicle leaving. The local news had a great shot of a protest sign across the street from the restaurant, in clear sight as cheney's car went by...

On the way to find some lunch I bought a 30-cent pack of gum and a $1.00 knife from these folks. (I gave them $5 and told them to keep the change.) They gave permission to take their picture.
This guy said business was not too good, but he was willing to smile for a photo.
These guys were fun to watch, and I didn't ask to take their picture.
Some view, eh?
After I got back to work, my friend Mark took my picture again.
The philser was supposed to be at Price Hill Chili at 4920 Glenway from 7-9 p.m. with his good buddies Prosecutor Joe Deters, Sheriff Simon Leis, and Ohio FOP Vice President Keith Fangman. As it turned out he also had a special guest, that chabot fellow, but instead of all meeting at the chili place, the ended up at the golden fleece next door.
The sign got a lot of positive feedback from people driving past.
Hard to believe they were in compliance with the fire code. I meandered back and forth with my sign in plain view. I tried to stand on a low wall to give the participants a better view, but was told to not do that by a few of the half-dozen police officers providing security.
My good buddy Atia showed up, too.
These fellows spent a few minutes trying to block the view of the sign from inside.
The soon gave up. The fellow with the jingo shirt is that cunningham jerk from local fox radio.
I gotta say I love it when they have windows and no blinds or drapes.
So it goes. Notice:
