The Scene: Outside the B and N bookstore in Kenwood, and the corner of Kenwood and Montgomery.

I thought some republican hack writer/pundit/former congressman was doing
a book signing today, but that is happening next Monday, so today was a dry run.

I arrived about 6:30 for a 7 p.m. event (a week early), and was surprised at the
total lack of action at the bookstore.

I was only on the sidewalk about a minute when an old security guard guy drove
up and said I couldn't be there. He wasn't very pleasant. Neither was I.

I moved to the corner of Kenwood and Montgomery, and got lots more positive feedback
than negative stuff. Most of the negative stuff was pretty desparate and pretty foul.
The people who object to the sign are getting to be a sorry lot indeed.

Before I left I had a long conversation with the securty guy, and we parted on
good terms. Good thing, too, because I expect to be back next week.

Today's sign event is dedicated to good friend Reuel, who had a birthday last week.
He agrees the bush regime sucks.
