Wednesday, April 5, 2006, 8-Mile RoadThe SceneRepublican Club Candidate Night, 6 p. supper; 7 p. meeting, at the Anderson Township Heritage Center, Eight Mile Road at Forest Road. (That's a sleepy intersection, so I was on Eight Mile and Beechmont Avenue.)
The traffic was pretty heavy.
Sometimes I held the sign up as high as I could.
For a change, I had a serious photographer taking pictures.
There were the usual head shakers, thumb-downers, and bird flippers, and a "bush is a great president" yeller, but most of the action was from people in support of the message. Lots of beeps, waves, thumbs-up, and calls of "we care" and "we're with you!"
Our photographer of the day, Al the electrician, was impressed with how much support I got, and how little negativity there was, given the location. I was surprised, too.
So Al took a lot of pictures and a lot of people got to see me and the sign, including a few from my work.
Not that I was being shy.
Or holding back any opinions.
And it was a beautiful day, weather-wise.
But then, truth is good whatever the weather.
So there I stood, a nearly old man with a too big sign.
Being photographed by an outstanding electrician.
And he even took a turn with the sign. More fun later, Ray Written April 5, 2006 |
