Tuesday, March 21, 2006, Heimlich FundraiserThe SceneFirst day of Spring, but the snow put a damper on the heimlich fundraiser. The price varied depending on the time you came. 5 p.m - VIP reception for $2,500/person, 5:45 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. general reception for $1,000/person. I arrived before 5 and didn't pay anything. But then, I didn't see our local groundhog (cincinnati phil) either.
On the response to the sign level, nothing unusual. Most of the swells had to see and go by me one way or another. A door far from me was locked, so many of the well-heeled had to clip-clop by me to get in. I think some of the valet parking staff got snowed out, because they had people waiting 20 minutes to unload their cars. Not much negative feedback, but I did get one "F--k you, crybaby!" from one idiot, and "Find a better way to spend your time." from an attendee. On the positive side, plenty of beeps and waves and a few very sincere "thank you for doing this" comments, as I've come to know them. After 90 minutes in the blowing snow, I called it a day and took my frozen feet back to the car. After I got home and fixed a quick meal, I went out again to see the new "Why We Fight" documentary. Awesome. More fun later, Ray Written March 22, 2006 |
